Basting:
After your quilt is basted with one of the methods below, roll the lining/batting edges to the front and pin or baste this roll in place along the edge of the quilt top. This prevents fraying and encases the batting fibers while quilting.


Hand-quilted tops:
Beginning in the center, baste an "X" through all layers to each corner. Baste horizontal and vertical rows 4" to 6"apart.


Machine-quilted tops:
With rustproof Size 0 or 00 safety pins, begin at the center and place pins 3" to 4" apart, avoiding lines to be quilted.
