MAKING TEMPLATES
Using your drawing as a guide, trace each piece onto freezer paper, shiny side down, including piece identification number. (Diagram 3) Using scissors, cut out each piece. (Diagram 4) Use grid to help determine the straight grain line for each template. Mark intersecting points for aligning pieces that have mismatched sides, such as Piece 7, 8, and 9.

CUTTING FABRIC
Using Diagram 2 and piecing numbers as a guide, place freezer paper templates, shiny side down, on the right side of appropriate fabric. (See Piece/Fabric Cutting Guide.) Align grain line. Space templates far enough apart to allow for seam allowance to be added when cutting. Using a "dry" (no steam) iron and a low temperature setting, press templates to fabric. Place ruler's 1/4" line at the edge of the paper template on the side being cut. (Edge of ruler will be offset by 1/4" from edge of template.) Cut fabric. Turn fabric or mat, align ruler remembering to include seam allowance, and cut fabric again. (Diagram 5) Continue turning, aligning, and cutting until all sides of the template have been cut.

ASSEMBLING SECTION
Using piecing sequence numbers shown on Diagram 2 as a guide, sew pieces together.
