ASSEMBLING THE VILLAGE SIGN
Step 1.) Two different sign
template diagrams have been provided. The first one is the same as
the QuiltersVillage sign. The second diagram is for use when changing
the Village name. (Instructions for making a custom sign are included
with diagram.) Using template diagram of your choice, trace Village name
and scroll designs onto Village sign fabric. We used a permanent, waterproof,
pen for this task. However, if you would prefer to embroider the name
and scroll designs, lightly trace lines using a marking pencil of your
choice. Tip: Use two or three small pieces of double-sided tape to temporarily
adhere the fabric to the sign template. This will prevent the fabric from
slipping when tracing the designs. Cut out sign using perimeter line as
the cutting guide.
Step 2.) With right sides
together, align "outer edge" strips with sides of sign and sew
a 1/4" seam allowance (Diagram 3A). Cut off ends of strips even with sign.
Turn raw edge to back and finger press crease (Diagram 3B). With right
sides together, align strip with edge of sign on top and bottom. Wrap
ends of strip around to back and sew 1/4" through all layers (Diagram
3C). Turn raw edges to back and finger press crease. Using overlay, position
sign on quilt top and appliqu>= into place.

ASSEMBLING BUSHES
Step 3.) Referring to Part
Two, Steps 1, 2, and 3, prepare bushes for appliqu>=ing to quilt top.
Use "Bushes
Template Diagrams" for size and shape and "Bushes
Color and Placement Guide" for bush color and location. Tip:
Prepare all the bushes and pin into place before appliqu>=ing to quilt
top. Use your own creativity to make changes in bush color and placement.
SQUARING QUILT TOP
Step 4.) In preparation
for attaching borders, square the quilt top. Cut a straight edge along
one side of the top using rotary cutter (Diagram 4A). Turn quilt around
and using ruler(s) as a t-square (a large 45 degree acrylic triangle ruler
helps make this part fast and easy), cut the next edge (Diagram 4B). Carefully
reposition ruler after the first cut and finish cutting along edge. Turn
the quilt and repeat the steps until all sides have been cut and the top
is square.
