FINISHING UP
Step 6.
) Mark quilting design, layer and baste quilt top for quilting using a method of your choice. (We machined quilted around the houses, windows, trees, bushes, etc., and used a quilting design in the border.)

Step 7.) From the border fabric, cut straight-grain binding in 2 1/4"-wide strips and fold in half lengthwise. (A 1/4" seam allowance is included in the width measurements.) With right sides together and raw edges even, pin the binding to the quilt top. Stitch binding to opposite sides of quilt and trim even with top and bottom. Blind stitch to quilt back. Stitch binding to top and bottom, leaving 2" of extra binding at each end. Fold the raw end of binding in, then fold binding toward back of quilt. Blind stitch in place, stitching corners securely.
