Step 12.) Using scrap fabric in the color of your choice (we used dark blue), cut strips 1" wide x length of roof line for both sections of the house. With right sides together, sew strip to roof line, using a scant 1/4" seam allowance. Wrap remainder of strip to the back of the house, forming a 1/4" "finished" strip along the front side roof line. Finger crease fold. Leave fabric strip "flat" on the backside of the house. (Diagram 13) Repeat steps for roof line on main section of house.

Step 13.) Using overlay, position chimney, making sure raw edges are under roof line and house on background (make sure door is aligned with path from road). Pin into place. Align left section of house, making sure raw edges are under main section. Pin into place. (Diagram 14) Carefully remove overlay. Using a pressing cloth, press house into place.

Step 14.) Applique pieces in the following order: a.) chimney (sides and top); b.) left section (top, left side and bottom); c.) main section ... beginning at bottom, right side of door, sew around the perimeter of the main section in a clockwise direction, ending by sewing around the sides and top of door.

Step 15.) Referring to Step 9, prepare windows (#28 and #29) and applique into place.
