Step 3.)
Using overlay, place Piece #12 on background assembled in
Part One. Carefully remove overlay. Using pressing cloth,
press piece to secure it in place. Applique turned-under
edges to background. Leave open end flat. (Houses will
eventually cover raw edges.)
Step 4.)
Repeat Steps 1 through 3 for each tree (Pieces 13 through
18). Use Diagram 3 as a guide for edges to be left flat.

Step 5.) Referring to Step 1, trace
drawing lines for chimneys and doors of first two houses
onto sheer fusible interfacing and layer with appropriate
fabric. Referring to Diagram 4, stitch slightly outside
of drawn lines. Clip corners, turn, smooth edges using
toothpick and finger press edges.
Step 6.)
Sew light blue stripe house fabric and black roof fabric
together. Make sure pieces are large enough to cut out
walls and roof combined. Layer lightweight fusible
interfacing on top of right side of combined fabrics.
Make sure roof line is aligned with seam line. (See
Diagram 5) Place door in the appropriate place under
interfacing (make sure the raw edges at the bottom of the
door extend beyond sewing line) and pin in place. Stitch
slightly outside of the traced line. Do not leave an
opening. Trim a scant 1/4" away from seam line. Clip
corners and points.
