This is the time of year when resolutions are made. Goals are set. Promises put in place–all with the best intentions. We don't plan to break our word, but somehow, as the holidays wane and the year begins to speed by, our ideas of exercising, losing weight, or completing tasks get lost in life's fast-paced priority shuffle.
This year, I resolve not to resolve. Instead, I shall watch for possibilities.
For instance, I'd like to spend more time stitching. Past attempts to set aside blocks of uninterrupted time have been somewhat successful, but all too often, unforeseen items arise that must be attended to. Entire afternoons dwindle down to an hour or less of quilting.
This year, I'll try another approach. In addition to scheduling quilting time, I'll look for unplanned opportunities, and claim the tiniest slices of time for quilting. I can browse quilting books and magazines while my brain slowly stirs into gear with a cup of morning tea. A few minutes at lunchtime allows me to match threads in the mid-day sun. In an extra half-hour each evening, I can cut patchwork pieces, plan an applique, or decide on a block setting.
It's amazing what can be done in a few found minutes.
