Every year about this time, I start longing for warmer weather. Although I appreciate the postcard prettiness of a winter landscape, a little bit of cold weather goes an awful long way with me.
The past few years produced exceptionally mild winters, making this season's "normal" temperatures seem a bit harsh. Thick layers of snow cover every outside surface, clogging streets and sidewalks and turning even simple quilt shop trips into difficult excursions. The National Weather Service is forecasting another storm will move into the region tonight, bringing additional accumulation and high winds, which means blowing and drifting snow.
I'm beginning to think that a certain groundhog might want to re-think this year's prediction. I hope spring comes early, but I'm sure not seeing any sign of it yet.
Luckily, I can escape the great outdoors by going online. Wrapped in a warm quilt with a hot mug of tea in my hands, I can visit quilter's blogs, browse the latest fabric company offerings, and find endless ideas for projects, patterns and just plain puttering around in the stitch studio. I'm always amazed at the amount of inspiration available, and these online adventures work wonders when I'm trapped inside by a bad case of winter blahs.
Where do you go when you escape online? I'd love to hear about it.
