The weather has been more than a bit dreary lately. For the last few days, we've been pummeled with spring storms, complete with rolling thunder, wailing winds and more rain than the already saturated ground will ever soak up. The dogs are depressed, the cat's climbing the walls and my dear husband is just a tad grumpy. Me? I'm bright and bubbling with an inner source of sunshine.
What's my secret? I have Show Glow–and a secret sack of treasures to try out on a rainy day. My bulging bag is filled with little things I picked up at the International Quilt Festival earlier this month. In addition to quick pics of some of the absolutely fabulous quilts on display, I have fresh fabric, a fun fusible and some funky art items to create with and explore. I treated myself to a few spools of brightly colored thread, scrumptious hand-dyed fibers to stitch with, a very basic needle felting kit and gleaming gold fabric paint. I can't help but be inspired by all the goodies in my sack.
But the actual inspiration comes from remembering all the incredible quilts I saw with my very own eyes. The precise piecing, extra embellishments and superb stitching that was real and right in front of me. If those quilt artists could find the time to create such interesting works of art, then so can I.
And what better time to get creative than on a rainy day?
Take good care,

P.S. You don't have to wait for a major quilt show to find creative inspiration. Just fill a box or bag with fabric, batting, thread–and anything else you've been wanting to try–and keep it at the ready when the rain rolls in. On second thought...why wait for rain? Go get creative and quilt right now!
