"There's nothing wrong with the world that a hot bath and a good night's sleep won't fix."
That's what my grandmother used to tell me when we'd visit and she'd tuck me into bed at night. A bubbly scrub and sweet dreams beneath clean cotton sheets and a soft chenille bedspread would sooth away almost any worries that threatened my five-year-old world. In my eyes, grandma was always right.
Today I know that there are some worries that don't magically disappear when the moon and sun swap places in the sky, but I still hold to Grandma's wise words. I'm much better prepared to face the day after a good night's sleep. A long hot shower, fresh flannel sheets and a crisp cotton quilt are my recipe for "Clean Sheet Night."
I almost always fall asleep quickly, rest well, and slowly wake with remnants of creative quilt dreams drifting through my mind. If I take my time and linger a bit in my quilt cocoon, those wisps of quilting ideas may swirl into full-fledged patterns for future projects.
