Even though the official first day of summer is still a few weeks away, I'm already seeing signs of the season in my neck of the woods. We've had our first hot, humid day of sweltering sunshine, lush green lawns are turning slightly parched shades of brown, and the soft drone of thirsty mosquitoes now fills the night air. Warm breezes and watermelon can't be far behind.
In the stitching studio, my thoughts are turning toward lighter fare––smaller, quick-to-stitch projects, fun fabric experiments, and simple handwork I can complete outside on must-not-be-missed nice days. Maybe I'll explore sun-sensitive fabric paints, embroider a colorful field of flowers on pale patchwork or relax with a good read in a comfy quilt-draped deck chair.
How will you be celebrating summer? I'd love to hear about your summer quilting plans.
