Have you looked at the calendar lately? It seems like autumn just arrived. How could the holidays be so close at hand? I guess time really does fly when you're having fun.
I've been immersed in all things quilty––reading just-published issues of my favorite magazines, picking out patterns to make and trying new techniques. I've matched projects to people on my gift list, but the reality is that there simply isn't enough time to get all my grand ideas done. So instead of stressing, I'm moving on to Plan D.
That's 'D' as in 'Downsize,' and that's exactly what I've done to my 'to-do' list this season. Instead of working into the wee hours on gift projects each night, I'm stitching up quick little samplers––single pieced blocks or tiny technique swatches––and fashioning them into cute little quiltlets to pin on handmade cards or hang as holiday ornaments. I'll tuck a gift certificate, charitable contribution or personalized coupon inside. It's a fun, fast and easy way to please everyone on the gift list, including me!
This year, I'm staying in and stitching, instead of fighting hordes of holiday shoppers, and I'm having fun!
Plagued by less-than-perfect points? Afraid your piecing won't measure up? Put down that stick you've been beating yourself with and take a good dose of guilt-be-gone with the January/February 2008 issue of Mark Lipinski's Quilter's Home magazine.
